For Christians in Venezuela, finding someone who shares your faith and your heart for ministry isn’t always easy, especially when you live in different towns. Fernando lived in Higuerote, on the coast. Michelle lived in Los Teques, three hours away. Both were serving faithfully in their churches, him on the worship team and her on the dance team. In 2024, SALT brought them together. Here’s their story, in Michelle’s words.

Their story:

I’m so thankful for what you’ve built through the app. My husband and I met on SALT in 2024. We’re both from Venezuela, he’s from Higuerote, a town known for its beautiful beaches, and I’m from Los Teques, about three hours away from him.

When we first started talking, my husband referred to us as “ministry colleagues.” He serves on the worship team and I serve on the dance team, and since we both share a passion for youth ministry, we hit it off immediately. We learned so much from one another and quickly realized we were a perfect match.

We met in person for the first time in Caracas, the city right between our hometowns. It was a total rom-com “meet-cute”! From that moment on, we knew God was answering our prayers, so we started dating. Less than a year later, we got married, and now we’re expecting our first baby!

I had prayed to God knowing He would give me the best man, someone I could be a true helpmeet to, and He truly delivered. After meeting, we realized how God had been preparing us for each other over the years. We even discovered that our paths could have crossed when we were kids, but God led us to each other at just the right time.
