It's easier to comment here 😁 Seems to me that it is good to have it both ways. Everyone is different, so one would want an option like Salt where all Christians are, the other would want exclusively catholic. Catholic only dating apps already exist. I see Salt also has a filtering option for choosing denominations (for paying members). Maybe loosen it at that and give that option for free ☺️ Whatever the case, the bigger problem is to get majority of single Christians on all those dating apps

I would want to meet someone Eastern Orthodox also - I have tried dating ‘out’ and it doesnt work out long-term. Faith is a big part of my life, if this doesnt align - it becomes difficult.

Personally, for me, I want my future wife to be orthodox Christian for us to live the sacramental life together, and maybe if God grants me, to be a priest. So while to an extent I'm open, I'm also clear that long term, I need someone who will fall in love not just with me, but the eastern orthodox Christian faith I have. I do feel though that most people here aren't orthodox

A bit of an inquiry into the practicality of the concept of ecumenism too. 🧐 (Amos 3:3; Matthew 12:22-28; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

As an Sevvy woman (SDA), I have learnt to stay in my lane. I was open to other denominations in the past & have learnt from the experiences. My Bambi eyes opened more - yet I no longer stand & stare at the headlights. I appreciate the conversations & connections on Salt. It’s good to share & discuss and grow together. Although I am still open to friendships with those from various backgrounds & beliefs. I would only consider dating after thorough study & meeting the same understanding.

As for the SDA only dating apps out there, they are lacking. The in-app purchases are like YouTube when you’re not paying the Premium and an app without users and prompts to pay every minute isn’t a vibe. So I gave up on the SDA-only apps and came back to Salt.

As a Seventh Day adventist we also try to date only within our church because of how different our beliefs can be from the rest of Christianity. However we have a few sites so i think we are good. I am thankful that the fine folks at SALT have included us.

I’m glad you had a clear path CJ. I only learnt that SDA pastors tend to only marry an SDA with a fellow SDA, something I didn’t know prior. I learnt a lot - I’m still learning. After Baptism, I probably needed more mentoring to be honest. Follow up and youth mentoring seems to be lacking in the SDA church communities.

Yes, I totally agree! Our beliefs are a bit different from the rest of the Christian body and so for me dating an SDA man will be the best for doctrine alignment. I'm however grateful for the programs offered by SALT which are difficult to find in the SDA only platforms.

@Pat yes, the Salt platform is well and thoughtfully set out and provides a unique experience that I’m yet to find elsewhere.

A catholic app would be a great idea. A mixed couple can be tricky… not the same view on sacrements, and different principles / values on the path to marriage.

Going the extra miles to develop another app instead of just implement filter for denominations in the preference...

@Anukun there is a filter in the search bit. I'm on the fence about having a filter in the preferences bit. At first I was very much for it, but having seen the tags many people use I can forsee a lot of users inadvertently bypassing people they would be theologically compatible with. For example 'other' can mean almost anything, good or bad!

@Lachlan the search bit is premium only. Even then the search is ultra bad. When I tried premium it was a ultra hassle, constraint and limited. Worst thing, you could not filter or specifically search for people you liked but didn't wrote an intro... Had to manually scroll through history of shown profile....

I am Anglican and I would be very open to dating a Catholic man. The main thing for me is I want someone who believes men and women are equal in marriage and in ministry. If you’re reading this, and that’s you, send me a DM! ❤️😀❤️
