How Ben and Rebecca Found Success on SALT

Ben and Rebecca found success on SALT after a friend took matters into her own hands. Ben downloaded the app after noticing a lack of singles in his church, and Rebecca’s friends downloaded it for her over dinner. What followed was a three-hour video call, a first date in Glasgow, and a wedding. Here’s their story, in their own words.

Ben and Rebecca’s Story

We wanted to share our story with you as a way of thanking you guys for helping us get together. We just got married last weekend.

I downloaded SALT after lamenting with my older cousin that there was a lack of singles in my church, I’d tried a few other Christian dating apps before, but quickly realised SALT was much more user friendly and seemed to have more people in my age bracket.

Around the same time, Rebecca was out for dinner with some friends. They asked about her love life, and when she shrugged, they took her phone, downloaded the app and started looking through profiles. They came across mine and encouraged her to like it.

When I saw the notification later that evening, I sent her a message asking about our shared love of books. Rebecca has since admitted she wasn’t planning to reply to anyone and was ready to delete the app, but the question about books caught her attention.

After a few days of chatting, I asked if she’d like to have a video call through the app. Before the call, she messaged her friend, and jokingly said “My actions have consequenced.” Her friend replied, “What if this is how you meet your husband?”

That first video call lasted three hours, and not long afterwards we met for our first date in Glasgow.

A year later we got engaged, and now, two years after that first conversation, we’re married.

We’re so thankful to God for bringing us together, and wanted to share with you how SALT really worked!!
