{"id":2917,"date":"2025-05-20T13:33:55","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nrb.ttm.mybluehost.me\/?p=2917"},"modified":"2025-05-20T13:33:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:33:57","slug":"challenges-of-singleness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nrb.ttm.mybluehost.me\/challenges-of-singleness\/","title":{"rendered":"Challenges of Singleness in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This blog post pulls quotes from the Christians on SALT Social in 2025 about the unique challenges faced by singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-stats\">The Stats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn\u2019t take a fancy chart to know that people are staying single longer.&nbsp; Marriage rates are declining and singleness is increasing, with people delaying marriage more and more each year.&nbsp; Whether it\u2019s because we don\u2019t want to repeat the rampant divorce of previous generations, or because we are focusing on our career, or if it\u2019s just a cultural thing &#8211; people are staying single longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This reality can be solace for some &#8211; a lot of other people are single, too, so maybe there\u2019s nothing wrong with me &#8211; but it can also be frustrating for people who want to find a partner but can\u2019t seem to find many who feel the same.\u00a0 And for Christians &#8211; who believe that you should wait for marriage to have sex and shouldn\u2019t date until you\u2019re ready to marry &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/nrb.ttm.mybluehost.me\/wait-for-god-to-bring-my-partner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this long wait<\/a> (well into peoples\u2019 30s these days!) can bring its own challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We asked our SOCIAL community what they thought was the most difficult thing about being single.&nbsp; Although not everyone shared the frustration of singleness, many people seemed to have similar gripes with their single life.&nbsp; Our hope and prayer at SALT is that we can rectify this agony and help people find the person they want to marry and start a life together.&nbsp; But we also understand &#8211; it\u2019s not always that easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s what our SOCIAL users are telling us are the biggest challenges about being single:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-traveling\"><strong>Traveling<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI travel by myself, can enjoy a day out, etc. but there&#8217;s something about having two people that really makes it more fulfilling\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Kristina<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cTraveling is definitely hard. As much as I love solo holidays, being alone can limit what you can do. I&#8217;m heading to London next week and there are some places I&#8217;d feel awkward going on my own.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Dave<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eating-out\"><strong>Eating out:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cTraveling and eating out. I still travel by myself because I like traveling too much \ud83d\ude1c but I still can\u2019t eat in restaurants by myself, I find it too depressing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Cayene<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI feel so uncomfortable doing stuff like going out for coffee or food by myself!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Luna<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-church\"><strong>Church:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI\u2019m in my forties and go to a large church.&nbsp; Do I sit with people my age who are talking about kids and school, or do I sit with the 20-30 year olds I can\u2019t relate to?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Andy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGoing to church.. I long to be able to pray and receive the Eucharist alongside the person God has for me!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Josh<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-weddings\"><strong>Weddings<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGoing to a wedding and having to sit on a table with couples is super depressing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Louis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGoing to weddings! I recently went to one and when they invited people to dance, I was the only one left on my table!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Sophie<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-companionship\"><strong>Companionship:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI want to share highs and lows with someone who prioritizes me (and vice versa). Someone to brainstorm a problem\u2019s solution with, share an emotional load, care for me when I\u2019m unwell, etc. It\u2019s also the deep desire for someone to truly and deeply witness my life and know me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Abigail<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cLoneliness. Having to go to church alone, have dinner alone, go to the supermarket alone and other routines.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Leon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-practical-things\"><strong>Practical things:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI know it\u2019s shallow but having to pay for everything myself is tough. I\u2019m a single mom and sometimes it would be nice to have a second income so it isn\u2019t a struggle every month. Just to be able to afford to live and every once in a while take a nice vacation, is that so much to ask?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Jana<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGroceries and cooking are up there for sure! I can&#8217;t buy large packs of anything, fruits and veggies go bad if I&#8217;m not on top of them, if I do batch cooking I get tired of eating the same foods&#8230; And all the cleaning that comes after \ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Cesar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI hate having a buy-one-get-one voucher for coffee and other kinds of food that are on BOGO. \ud83d\ude05 I can only enjoy and finish one!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Jen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSomeone to scratch the very middle of my back. Although I find tools for the job, it\u2019s just not the same as having a personal back scratcher.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Bianca<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-loving-singleness\">Loving Singleness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But not everyone feels this way.&nbsp; Some of our users are happy single!&nbsp; I wonder if this is a good thing or bad thing for a dating app\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cMy problem is &#8211; I\u2019m totally happy in my own skin and living the single life!&nbsp; It\u2019s only really when I\u2019m doing things like not being able to discuss tough personal decisions with someone, doing things like playing tennis, DIY stuff\u2026 Otherwise life is bliss with Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Anita<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong with being single at all! I&#8217;ve traveled abroad by myself, been to restaurants by myself&#8230;. all sorts.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Caroline<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI love being single.
